Hello! If you’ve made it to this page, you’ve taken a huge first step in getting yourself help. You’ve also done the bold and courageous act of acknowledging emotional stress or an area of personal growth in your life, which takes a tremendous amount of internal vulnerability and awareness. Finding the right therapist can be hard, so I’m here to make it as easy as possible.

Who am I? My name is Akshay (pronounced: uk-shay) Naresh and I’m a licensed psychologist. I’ve worked with a variety of clients from different age groups in different settings including: community mental health clinics, schools, community colleges, universities, and hospitals. One thing I can say, regardless of where I’ve worked and who I’ve worked with, I LOVE what I do. I take my role as a therapist with immense gratitude; I am privileged to be sitting across from my clients and guide them towards meaningful change and self-exploration. As a first-generation immigrant, coming from an immigrant, Indian household, I know that in many cultures like mine, psychological therapy and mental health are rarely spoken about, so I try to hold my clients in an authentic, non-judgmental space of self-reflection and trust that whatever is shared in the space of therapy is IMPORTANT and VALUABLE. I approach psychological therapy as a space to help make meaningful life changes, by helping people develop self-compassion, self-acceptance, and self-awareness.

What can you get help for? I work with different types of mental health issues, from stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, body image issues, eating disorders, addictions, relationship issues, gender and sexual identity, and multi-cultural issues. I also believe psychological therapy is a powerful space to reprocess complex traumatic events we experience in our lives. I have had the privilege to learn and use tools throughout my training to help people heal from these painful experiences.

Outside of my professional life, I was born in India in a city called Chennai and raised in the Bay Area (Go Warriors and Raiders!). I play pickup basketball in my local outdoor courts, play tennis with my friends, and also have been recently getting on a workout regimen. I also love hiking and the outdoors. Having had the privilege of living near wonderful trails, I frequent local hiking spots all the time! I also am an avid musician; I taught myself how to produce music and I work with local artists to create music productions in a variety of languages (feel free to find some of my music online). I also play the ukulele, piano, flute, and saxophone. I LOVE watching and rewatching comedy TV like The Office and Parks and Rec (I can quote almost every line from any episode).
