FAQ

  • A lot of people base their perceptions of therapy on what they’ve seen in media. Some people fear that their therapist will pry into the deepest darkest corners of their mind, while others worry that their therapist will spend the whole session judging them. Fortunately, therapy — at least with us — is a lot more boring than that!

We know how anxiety-provoking it can feel to tell a therapist about your struggles, that’s why we approach our work non-judgmentally. We want you to know that all topics are fair game, the more you can talk about what’s troubling you the sooner you’ll get to a direction forward.

To get started the first step is to book your consultation call. You can also contact us.

  • Depth therapy could be a good fit for you if:

    • Nothing ever feels good enough.

    • You’re hard on yourself and you worry that being more self-compassionate will make you lazy or complacent.

    • You put on a brave face but you’re struggling more than anyone knows.

    • Relationships either feel like a chore that you have no energy for or like a minefield where every word you say will be scrutinized.

    • You’re the one who is there for everyone else, but no one is there for you.

    • You tried therapy before without much success or you want to go deeper.

  • Currently we are not in-network with any insurance plans.

However, we are happy to provide you with a superbill (an itemized receipt for insurance companies) that you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. Your therapist can provide you with more information if you choose to go this route.

  • Our consultation page has up-to-date availability for all Brave Space clinicians.

Even if we do not currently have openings, we encourage you to reach out to us, as we would be happy to add you to our waiting list or to direct you to other similarly-minded and talented clinicians with openings.

You can also peruse our resource list which has a number of great links that may move you forward in your search.

  • We offer both in-person and telehealth appointments. In-person appointments are conducted at our Rockridge office at 5665 College Ave in Oakland, CA.

  • As our rates are adjusted over time, differ from clinician to clinician, and depend on whether a sliding scale is being used, we do not list them on the website. However, each clinician will discuss their rates with you via email or in the consultation call.

  • We offer psychological associateships for doctoral-level clinicians. Our training program is unique in it’s depth — we provide 2 hours of training per week, one hour of individual supervision and one hour of didactic. Training is conducted with the goal of providing supervisees with a grounding in depth therapy, as well as practice-building, with the ultimate intent of helping supervisees create their own sustainable private practice.
