Meet the Team

  • Roni Khol, Psy.D

    FOUNDER, SUPERVISOR, CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

    Roni (he/him) is the director at Brave Space Therapy; his duties include overseeing the training program and providing individual therapy. Roni is passionate about increasing accessibility to depth therapies and showcasing the lasting relief that depth therapies can provide.

    Roni moved to America when he was 7 years old and also does therapy in Russian. One of Roni’s specialty areas is in working with first and second-generation immigrants and folks who experienced frequent moves in childhood.

  • Maha Mian, Ph.D

    PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATE

    Maha (she/her) is a psychological associate at Brave Space Therapy. Maha believes in empowering individuals to embrace opportunities for exploration, reflection, and growth. She is passionate about working with folks around trauma, identity, life transitions, and relationships.

    Maha is a second-generation South Asian cisgender woman, and holds the values of harm reduction, accessibility, and anti-oppression/antiracism as the foundation of her therapeutic practice.

  • Carol Deas-Lopez, Psy.D

    PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATE

    Dr. Deas-Lopez (she/her) is a psychological associate with Brave Space Therapy. She works with individuals, couples, and groups; specializing in caregiver support, substance abuse, life transitions, and death and dying.

    She is a Native Californian (sixth generation San Franciscan), who has lived in the East Bay for the last 35+ years. Dr. Deas-Lopez has been a lifelong advocate for women’s rights , aging with dignity, and veteran care.

  • Akshay Naresh, Psy.D

    LICENSED PSYCHOLOGIST
    Akshay (he/him) is a psychologist at Brave Space Therapy who provides individual therapy and will begin accepting supervisees in Spring 2024. Akshay is a first-generation immigrant who prides himself on his ability to work with individuals from many different cultures on a wide variety of presenting problems.

    Akshay is an avid musician and has performed frequently at local venues. He was born in Chennai, India but raised in the Bay Area as a loyal Warriors and Raiders fan. Akshay is uniquely suited to work with high-achieving immigrants seeking to deepen their connection to themselves and their community.
